Yes, ABANDONED LUGGAGE is the title of the third book in the ARIA Trilogy. The first book was originally just named Left Luggage but when it became a trilogy a neater name for the series was needed and ARIA filled the spot. ARIA stands for Alien Retrograde Infectious Amnesia. A mouthful, eh? It could have just been IA but then I like arias. Haha.
Today is a milestone because this morning I sent off the final draft of the final and third book of ARIA. I used to be reminded by BeWrite Books, Neil Marr that “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” Winston Churchill, 1942
ARIA: ABANDONED LUGGAGE has taken two years to write – like the others – and has travelled through the sharp eyes and red pens of the critique group Orbiters of the British Science Fiction Association. Also my writer friend, Bec Zugor, has read everything the mad (yet lovable to some) Doctor Antonio Menzies has said to ensure his Italian is correct.
On Saturday at BristolCon I met up with Andy Bigwood, who is the artist for the series and we discussed scenarios for the cover art. I can’t wait to see his arty drafts!
There is a facebook page for the trilogy. Please pop over and like it at http://facebook.com/AriaTrilogy
Quick reminder of what people said and links to the series
Jon Courtenay Grimwood – “Geoff Nelder inhabits Science Fiction the way other people inhabit their clothes.”
Robert J Sawyer calls ARIA a “fascinating project”.
“Geoff Nelder’s ARIA has the right stuff. He makes us ask the most important question in science fiction–the one about the true limits of personal responsibility.” – Brad Linaweaver.
“ARIA has an intriguing premise, and is written in a very accessible style.” – Mike Resnick.
